Hi All - just set up companion on my PC desktop.
I have 8 axis cameras non compatible for SD card

YouTube videos advise on a NAS attached directly to
Router and the companion software will pick this up
Automatically. Anyone got any experience on this if
It’s as simple as that?

If NAS is the way to go then any suggestions on a
Compatible model As I haven’t got a big budget and
recommended storage Capacity?

Thanks for any assistance

there are several ways to do this, depending what your skill level is and what you may have laying around...

My Asus router (RT-AC86U) has USB ports and will allow a HDD connected to it and setup to provide network storage. I just bought a WD 4TB Mybook external HDD for $85 and it was the cheapest route for me-I was using the microSD card installed in the camera (P3225-LVE Mk II) but that didn't last very long. Just finished getting the camera setup to use the HDD that is connected to my router and it works very well.

I also have a QNAP TS-251+ NAS box that provides network storage but I use that for other purposes. It would be the most expensive route for me as I will need to add additional capacity.

If you have a spare PC with Windows or Linux installed, it could be another cheap way of providing storage to your cameras. I would suggest have the OS installed on one HDD, and add a second HDD just to store your camera recordings.

I did not need the Axis Companion software to get everything working.
