This might warn others before they buy this product:

This was the answer from Axis support:

Please be informed that the scan-to-print function on Axis 70U works only with printers supporting PCL5. The HP2600n is a hostbased printer with no support for PCL.

The 70U doesn't support SMB, the protocol that is used for windows share / foldershare. So you need the FTP server for upload to a network drive.

Kind regards,

===============================

Meaning that my 'network' scanner can:
not connect to a network printer
not connect to a network share

I bought the HP scanner 7650 and the Axis came with it. I got a network printer from the same brand but I cannot connect them...
I am very disappointed about the whole set. After the answers from Axis I don't want to call it a network scanner anymore.

The HP2600N is a NIGHTMARE!!! It only uses Host-based printing which is rubbish. Get the HP2605N - identical apart from more expensive and actually works (PCL5 and 6, PS etc)!! Don't blame Axis for the cheap and nasty printer.

As for saving to network - I agree, it really should support SMB!

I also got the Axis 70 u and want to scan to my network printer HPlaserjet3550n (coonected to the jetdirect 175x). What settings should I use in Edit Printer Destination?

The world we live in is of absolute automation. Documents in the past were printed only in typewriters found mainly in offices. But as time passed, the job requirements has also changed with the advent of computers the whole scenario changed completely. then printed documents in a special very different machine printer typewriter call needed. Printers are of different types. Shortly define the types of printers that now exist.
