Hi all.

There's a setting on this camera to adjust focal length (zoom) [Wide,Tele]. I need to adjust this with Vapix or thru ONVIF. What's the method/property for this?

I'm not looking for digital zoom (which looks like is running in PTZ), I need to set optical one.

Thanks

Bostjan

Hi Bostjan,

You could use the following API:
http://<servername>/axis-cgi/com/ptz.cgi?camera=1&zoom=[1 ... 9999]

You can find more information in the VAPIX Library Pan/Tilt/Zoom section:
https://www.axis.com/vapix-library/#/su ... -t10004639

Hope this helps,
Marco

Hi Marco,

Is this optical zoom that actually moves optics in the camera or digital zoom?

Thanks

Bostjan

Hi Bostjan,

This is Digital PTZ as the AXIS P1447-LE doesn't support optical zoom.

Here are the camera's specs:

https://www.axis.com/files/datasheet/ds_p1447le_t10113241_en_1904.pdf

Thanks,
Marco

Yes, under ptz.

But checking under LENS it's listed that focal length is variable and owning the camera I can set zoom under admin. I need to access THAT zoom.

The API to control a Varifocal lens is:
http://<servername>/axis-cgi/opticssetup.cgi?azoom=1

*** The use of this API should be limited during the first camera configuration ***

Marco thanks! It works! Finally :)

One more question:

I will soon have 100+ of same cameras to program and install. Is there a way to configure one camera with all parameters (including root password, users etc), save configuration, modify saved configuration file (some small changes like IP address, some overlay text) and push such configuration to brand new camera (without going thru initial setup with root password etc)?

Thanks

Bostjan

PS: regarding original question, is it posible to read the "azoom" value or just set it?

You are very welcome Bostjan!

You can use
http://<servername>/axis-cgi/opticssetup.cgi?monitor=poll
Parse "zoomPosition" from the response.

Response example:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
<devInfo xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xmlns="http://www.axis.com/OpticsSetupSchema"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.axis.com/OpticsSetupSchema/pub/opticssetup.xsd"
version="1" timeStamp="2018-03-25T15:27:19" timeStampMS="364">

<opticsSetupState focusMeasure="0.000000" focusOperationInProgress="0" focusPosition="0.803584" isDay="1" zoomOperationInProgress="0" zoomPosition="1.000000" />
</devInfo>

**********

When it comes to applying the same settings to multiple devices, our recommendation is using the AXIS Device Manager:

https://www.axis.com/en-us/products/axis-device-manager

Thanks,
Marco

Marco, regarding credentials:

Doing http://test:test@<camip>/axis-cgi/opticssetup.cgi?monitor=poll for user test,pass test works in firefox. However in IE, Edge or Chrome, it doesn't.

It either throws an error or asks for credentials.

How do I properly pass user and password to the above example?

Thanks

Bostjan
