Hi,

I'm curious on what camera and firmware are you working with.

"40-remote_log.conf" sounds like old FW

Hi Jose,

I am not working on a camera. We are working on I/O module. The exact name is "AXIS A9161 Network I/O Relay Module".
The version used is the last one 1.65.0.2.
I followed this documentation : https://www.axis.com/files/manuals/gd_S ... n_1312.pdf

Hi,

I have a similar device at hand, how do you test the log feature? I'd like to have the full picture of the expected behavior please.

Hi Jose,

I opened a case about this problem. The case number is "865005".
I asked to know how to test it. The answer was this one :

Unfortunately with this firmware, we can only send notifications during the launching of certain events, for example alarms. Notifications are, for example : send an email.
To have assistance about this demand; we recommand to contact the developer community : https://www.axis.com/fr/developer-community-intro

Then, if you know how to test, I will do it. But, when I read this answer, I understand that the functionnality to send logs on an external server does not exist.

For the full picture of the expected behavior, I want that logs generated by my I/O be sent to my log server (Kiwi syslog). For example, the temperature of the I/O is 70°. It send a notification to our syslog. As this, we can know why an I/O has been some problems.

Thanks for your answer.

Hi,

Sending to an external server worked OK for me with following setup:

a. my own PC running "SysLog Watcher" (free trial installed from https://syslogwatcher.com/)
b. PC in the same network switch as the A9161 (IP 10.21.65.17)
c. added a row with "*.* @10.21.65.17" in the last line of the camera's "/etc/rsyslog.d/40-remote_log.conf" file

Test: I just changed the time setup (Daylight saving ON)

Result: the "SysLog Watcher" displayed a number of lines received from the camera

Please let me know if this test works also for you, it will be also OK if you want to suggest other test.
